This is about as official as it gets in the anarchy known as UseNet. A bit of history, for those of you who might be interested:

Nihilist and I (TC), together with a small core group of regulars, started up the newsgroup alt.binaries.pictures.grotesque (ABPG) in the latter part of 1996, in response to what we felt was the destruction of alt.binaries.pictures.tasteless (ABPT) by the posting of excessive amounts of pornography, in particular scatology, pissology (is that a word? If not, I hereby coin it), and bestiality. There are other newsgroups that cater to these sorts of things, and we felt that they were off-topic in ABPT. However, somebody else with a commercial stake in things felt otherwise and proceeded to mail-bomb Nihilist so massively that Nihilist lost his Internet account -- punished for someone else committing a crime against him is the way I saw it at the time.

This same spamming, mail-bombing, deviate anal sphincter jizzwad (we like him, don't we?), in response to our polite requests to cease and desist, proceeded to flood ABPT with hundreds of bestiality images every day. It should be noted, perhaps, that this guy is a professional pornographer with direct Internet backbone connections and a large organization. We can only hope that some day one of his pet stallions gets loose and does him from behind, without benefit of clergy.

Anyway, after a lot of discussion and macho let's take back the group type posturing, we took what some felt at the time was the coward's way out: We created a new newsgroup with clearly stated goals and intent -- alt.binaries.pictures.grotesque. Would "Money Talks, Bullshit Walks" apply here? Yeah, I think so.

Read this, and heed it!
